Autumn Boardwalk, 24" x 48", acrylic
It was a mild December walk on a beach north of Boston that gave me the idea for this painting. It's actually longer than this cropped center image - 4 ft. long! It floats in a rounded edge natural wood frame. I love it. I'll never forget that day.
This is my second home, location of Sawmill River Arts. My personal gallery, Millworks, merged into this cooperative in 2011. My work is best viewed there - hours: Thurs-Sun, 12-6. You will frequently find me there! Click on the image to see my website.
I have been painting in the Connecticut River Valley and New England in general since we moved here in 1973. Painting on site is a special joy, even if it means hunkering down in my van so I can paint on a damp and cold winter day. The changing seasons are fun for me since I'm always experimenting with color and vibration. Annual painting trips take me to Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, Lake Champlain in Vermont, and northern New Mexico. Watch for paintings on the blog from these trips!
I'm also glad to paint something just for you - commissions welcomed.
In 2011, my work was added to a wonderful historic gallery near Albuquerque,Johnsons of Madrid in Madrid NM. Several of my largest paintings currently hang at Wilder Nightingale Gallery in Taos NM, with fresh pieces added from teaching at Ghost Ranch in 2012..
I am still actively teaching painting, starting at Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu NM in June, on to the Green Mountains at Fletcher Farm School in Ludlow VT in August, and finally to the southern Catskills at The Warwick Center in Warwick NY in October. Check my website for details.
